It is an honor to assist others in framing, organizing, detailing, editing, and conveying their stories. If I can assist you in this endeavor, please reach out to schedule a free consultation. I can’t wait to read your story!

College Admissions Consulting/Career Consulting

When I was applying to college, it was as simple as filling out a form, asking for letters of recommendation, and completing a personal statement. These days, applying for college can be an overwhelming process that makes it easy for students to lose their sense of who they are and what they have to offer.

My goal as a college admissions consultant is to make the process less intimidating and to ensure that the students submit an application package that authentically represents who they are and what they have to offer. When I first meet with students to discuss college essays, I almost certainly hear: “But there’s nothing special or unique about me. I’m completely boring.” Not so! One of the great pleasures of my work is helping students discern what sets them apart–and I’ve never had a student leave our session without knowledge of just that! The ability to tell our stories is an incredible skill–one I enjoy cultivating in all of my students!

Testimonials:

“Megan has been an amazing resource for my children as they try and navigate the world of college applications, especially essays. Her skills as an English professor, knowledge of the college application process, and ability to pull out what is unique in each student has made her an incredible asset. She has been patient and understanding each step of the way. My children have felt that the time with her has been extremely valuable and credit her with helping to make a stressful process easier and more manageable.” –Rachel Balck, parent

“There is truly no one more intentional about the college process than Megan Koon. In a time that’s usually stressful for students, Mrs. Koon makes sure you are well prepared, understand each step, and have a lot of fun while doing it. She is an incredible listening ear and support system, all while guiding you in the exact direction you need.” –Clare Ruble, student

“Mrs. Koon is by far one of my most helpful and influential figures during the college admissions process! Her guidance with essay writing helped me identify my key strengths and accomplishments, and her personal growth exercises along the way helped me to sort through ways I stood apart from my peers. Mrs. Koon also provided me with guidance on how to be a successful college student, and her advice is truly invaluable to me! I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else in my corner throughout this process.” –Hannah Gertz, student

“Megan Koon was so wonderful with her help during my college preparation process. She was patient and thorough, and she really made the effort to be personal and meet me where I was. She also made the prospect of college applications, admissions, and those first few steps into college life feel real but not overwhelming or intimidating. For me, she was a very grounding presence in that stressful time. Also, very importantly, she was fun!” –Joelle Saunders, student

“Our son had the good luck to be both a student of Mrs. Koon and participated in her SAT and ACT prep tutoring sessions. Mrs. Koon had both the deep subject knowledge to shore up weaker areas in our son’s knowledge as well as some “special sauce” test-taking strategies that really helped our son excel and improve his test scores with each successive test. We wholeheartedly recommend Mrs. Koon as an instructor and a tutor, be it for test prep or simply to help your student improve his/her academic performance in school.” –Brad and Lorry May, parents
